PPTA COVID-19 Updates and Resources

April 1, 2020 Release

I am still confused about the regulations and payment for telehealth services. Are PTs allowed to use telehealth services in PA? Will we get paid for our services? APTA and PPTA continue to receive questions and field concerns about the rulings made by CMS, the CARES Act, and even Governor Tom Wolf’s press release regarding the use of telehealth in PA during the COVID-19 crisis. APTA has issued clarifying statements regarding CMS, Medicare, and the use of Telehealth. Information on the CMS/Medicare ruling, and payment is summarized in the Payer Updates in today’s press release. Additional clarification and information on the Practice Act, the Jurisdictional Scope of Practice, and the Professional Scope of Practice with respect to providing telehealth is included in Practice Guidance.

Are there any other guidelines for practice to help therapists as we deal with the COVID-19 crisis? APTA has provided links to sources that offer general guidance and more refined guidance related to specific practice settings and situations. While these links don’t address every situation you may encounter, they provide links to resources known at this time. These links are included at the end of today’s update.
