Pediatric SIG

The PPTA Pediatric Special Interest Group is a state-wide volunteer organization that brings together any member of the Pennsylvania Chapter (PTs and PTAs) in good standing who share an interest in the evidence-based care of the pediatric population.

Benefits of membership include peer-to-peer networking, providing a forum for education in Pediatric practice, and to identify and promote utilization of standards of competency for practice, research, and education in Pediatric practice.

PEDIATRIC SIG AWARD

We have great news –we are bringing back the Pediatric SIG Award, which has not been awarded for many years!!!  Please consider nominating a colleague that you may have that you feel should receive this award. The award will recognize a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant that is a member of PPTA and and the Pediatric SIG, and has made meaningful contributions to pediatric physical therapy at the individual, Chapter, or National level. The contributions can be in any of the following areas: excellence in patient care or clinical practice, excellence in education or research, or community advocacy.

If you would like to recognize a colleague for excellence in pediatrics, please submit a letter of recommendation to the Chapter Office that provides evidence with specific examples of the individual’s contributions. Please indicate the SIG award for which you are recommending the member in the subject line of your e-mail. A current copy of the nominee’s curriculum vitae or resume is preferred but not mandatory.

Pediatric Private Practice Network: We are trying to build a network of the pediatric practitioners working in private practice. If you are working in pediatric private practice and would like to be part of this network, please contact Lisa Mackell, your pediatric SIG chair, for more information.

The PPTA Mentorship Program aims to connect students, new professionals, and those looking for opportunity to grow, with a variety of experienced PPTA mentors. The program will consist of informal small group sessions via conference calling to discuss topics related to clinical practice areas, leadership, and clinical decision making.
